Lions Club International Heads Visit CPEC

On Thursday 9 February CPEC welcomed a very special visitor that might give you an indication of the calibre of our Centre.

Dr Wing-Kun Tam, President of Lions Club International, which has over 1.35 million members, visited us to hear a proposal that would see the wonderful CPEC education and training programs exported around the world. Dr Tam was in Melbourne for 18 hours, and during that time our Centre was the first visit he made, and the only visit to any charity or organisation like us.

As well as having the President visit which alone was a massive coup, we also had the Second Vice President, Mr Barry Palmer AM, visit and it was the first time the two of them have made an official visit in Australia together. Mr Palmer will become the Lions International President in 2013. It will be the first time an Australian will have ever held this position.

Mr Peter Clarke, Lions Club international Council Chairman, and Mr Lou Onley, Lions Club International District Governor, also came to CPEC, as did many other Lions representatives who are very excited about our Centre and are willing to work with us to try and develop our new international education and training programs.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success. A special thank you also goes to the CPEC families who came to meet the Lions representatives. Dr Tam particularly wanted to thank them for coming, and said that meeting the children was a very enjoyable part of his visit.
