Christmas Fitness Challenge & A Cheque for CPEC!
Active Lifestyle Health and Fitness Specialists, who run personal training sessions all around Melbourne, put their groups to the test this December by inviting them to step up their fitness campaign prior to Christmas and join them for the 12 Challenges of Christmas. The Challenge ran for nearly a month and participants had to complete 12 different exercises which included the following:
Challenge 1: Run a marathon (42.2km) over the 4 weeks (ie; 20 x 2km or 4 x 10km)
Challenge 2: Complete 12 Active Lifestyle training sessions with mixed exercises
Challenge 3: Complete 12km on a rowing machine
Challenge 4: Achieve 24 alcohol free days
Challenge 5: Lose 5% of your body weight
Challenge 6: Attend 3 out of 5 Super Sunday Family fitness sessions
Challenge 7: Complete 12 laps of the oval
Challenge 8: Complete 1200 punches
Challenge 9: Complete 120 push ups
Challenge 10: 12mins of cycling out your bottom out of the bike seat
Challenge 11: Complete 600 skips or 300 step ups
Challenge 12: Complete 120 lunge walks
The Challenges sound difficult enough at the best of times but some of them absolutely brutal at Christmas time! Losing weight in December, has it ever been done?
Chris Matthews who was in charge of getting his groups through the challenge showed a video of our very own Tate Kemp and his brother from the Channel Seven Sunday night program as inspiration for the group. Chris also donated $25 to CPEC from every registration fee as well as collecting other donations.
On Sunday 4 December, Chris Matthews and his training group met Tate and presented him with an amazing cheque for $4,775 for CPEC. Sue Kemp spoke on behalf of the CPEC families and thanked the group for their generous donation as well as for thinking of all the families at CPEC. She said: “It is nice to know other people are thinking about what we go through.”
Thank you to Chris Matthew and his family who put a lot of time and effort into organising the challenge as well as the donations, also thank you to those slightly crazy people who signed on for the Challenge.
Some of us might need to call on Chris after Christmas to shake the 12 kilograms of Christmas!
