Chain Reaction - The Ultimate Corporate Bike Challenge

Chain Reaction 2009

The Cerebral Palsy Education Centre was proud to have been chosen as one of the Official Charities for the 2009 Chain Reaction Bike Challenge - 7th of March to 13th of March 2009.

Marcus Ryan will be joining a team of 36 industry professionals on the Chain Reaction Ultimate Corporate Bike Challenge. This encompasses a 1,000km bike ride around Tasmania to raise money for the Starlight Foundation and the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC) with the support of Goldman Sachs JBWere.

Marcus will be taking part in the 7 day challenge, covering an average of 142kms per day, from Launceston to Devonport and finishing at the Melbourne Town Hall. It will be a physically challenging & mentally gruelling ride. However, meeting an amazing little girl called Lily, who faces difficult challenges everyday as a result of Cerebral Palsy, and still manages to keep smiling, motivated me to do this to help her and CPEC friends so that they may have a better future.

CPEC will use the money raised directly to build an Education & Training wing at the existing CPEC centre in Glen Waverly. This will be at a cost of $200,000 and will include all the necessary technology, equipment and lecture facilities to aid with the development and facilitation of training programs for families and care givers to provide the necessary and ongoing support through specialist skills enabling them to be an advocate and support for their child at school and in community activities. Please refer to the CPEC website (www.cpec.com.au) for further details.

With a personal fundraising target of $40,000, any contribution you could make towards this worthy cause will directly assist with the above in addition to other valuable programs set up by both Starlight and CPEC to assist the young people they educate and care for.

Lily and all her friends at CPEC who will benefit from the new education & training wing to build and grow their lives, thank you for your support.
