NEW FACE TO FACE DET WORKSHOP!
Interacting with students who use communication aids and devices: how to be an effective communication partner
This one day, face to face workshop focuses on the skills required by the communication partner to enable a student who uses a communication aid /device to be an autonomous communicator. Autonomous communication originates in the thought of the communicator and is initiated and generated by them. This requires access to a robust language AAC system that the student can initiate to say what I want to say, to whoever I want to say it, whenever I want to say it, however I choose to say it.
This workshop explores the interactions that support autonomous communication and the key accommodations and supports the student requires to use their current communication systems.
