Speech Pathology

CPEC Speech Pathologist: Key Selection Criteria

KSC 1: Recognised Degree in Speech Pathology and eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia


KSC 2: Current driver’s license


KSC 3: Current Working with Children check, and Police Check no older than 3 years.


KSC4: Fully COVID vaccinated


KSC 5: Well developed verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate with children and their carers


KSC 6: Understanding of collaborative work with other professionals and agencies in family centred services


KSC 7: Open to learning new strategies and problem solving to support children’s development and autonomous communication


KSC 8: Knowledge of child communication, language and speech development and general strategies used to support children’s development in early childhood


KSC 9: Interest in and preparedness to learn about augmentative and alternative communication


KSC 10: Commitment to ongoing professional development


KSC 11: Interest in and preparedness to learn about paediatric dysphagia


KSC 12: Experience and comfortable using technology


KSC 13: Child and family centred practice


KSC 14: Interest in working in transdisciplinary team to holistically support people with physical challenges


KSC 15: Interest in working with individuals with disabilities including addressing life span issues and building community capacity


KSC 16: Understanding of dynamic assessment.


Previous experience with / knowledge of AAC (aided language stimulation, PODD, sign, Speech generating devices) PROMPT, paediatric dysphagia and physical disability is desirable but not necessary.
